2012 Reindeer Run was held Friday November 30

 Forum 35's 2012 Reindeer Run 5k and Jingle Bell Jog 1 mile fun run will take place at 7pm Friday, November 30th in Downtown Baton Rouge. Both runs will start and finish City Plaza at the corner of 4th St. and North Blvd.
Reindeer Run is held in conjunction with the Downtown Festival of Lights featuring Santa Claus, music, fireworks, free outdoor ice skating, and much more. Bring your family out for the run and the holiday fun!
Keeping with the holiday spirit, will again be working with the U.S. Marines program Toys For Tots. All runners and spectators who bring a NEW unwrapped toy to donate will be entered into a raffle for a door prize from lululemon athletica. Please, no weapon toys. All toys benefit children of the Baton Rouge area. Monetary donations are also appreciated - checks may be made out to "Toys for Tots" and mailed to 8410 General Chennault Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70807. Runner Perks
All registered runners will be provided a free t-shirt, a jingle bell for your shoe, and access to our pre- and post-race festivities area. Pre-race, join Karmady Yoga & Massage for a yoga warm up customized for runners (details below). Post-race, we will be serving Powerades, Coke products, and plenty of food! The Mockler Beer Truck will be out again so you can be sure to replenish your carbs! There will be an ongoing stretching yoga session and also a free massage tent.
Running & Yoga, by Karmady Yoga & Massage
Practicing yoga benefits your other athletic activities, particularly running. It creates not only flexibility, but balance, strength and joint support. Join Brooke Riglin, the owner of Karmady Yoga & Massage before and after the race for FREE yoga classes. Pre-race yoga will be from 6-6:45p and after the race at 7:15p. Feel free to join in at any time! All props are provided.
Yoga before the race will be focused on strength, balance and flexibility. When our muscles are tight our bodies are misaligned and not working to their capacity By stretching beforehand, you will reduce your risk of injury. Strengthening your body through a series of poses will help to create stability in your joints and warm up your muscles for running. Poses will be used that also focus on foot placement and balancing preparing you to run on uneven pavement.
Yoga after the race the yoga practice will help to release tension from sore muscles and connective tissue, bringing your body back to a happy place. This series of poses will focus on all the areas where runners tend to feel tightness, tension and soreness.
After the race, visit the Karmady Yoga & Massage tent for a FREE chair or table massage! Let the Licensed Massage Therapist know the areas that you are tight, sore or injured and they will customize a 10-15 massage just for you!
Registration & Awards
We are happy to announce that all 5K runners will receive a chipped race number that tracks their time!
Early registration, through Nov 29, is as follows:
- Ages 6-17 - $15
- 18 & up - $20
Day-of registration will begin at 5:30pm at City Plaza at the following prices:
- Ages 6-17 - $20
- 18 & up - $25
All events are FREE to children 5 & under! (Note: children in this age group will not be timed.)
Awards will be given for the 5k male/female overall & male/female age group winners. Age groups will be: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69,70 & Over.
Packet Pickup and T-Shirts
All entrants will receive a long sleeve race T-shirt. Please register before November 10th to guarantee your shirt on race day. Please note that t-shirt sizes are available in adult sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL and Youth sizes Medium & Large.
Early packet pickup will be held at Varsity Sports, 2055 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808. Pickup will take place from 11:00AM to 6:30PM on Thursday, November 29th.
Any t-shirts not picked up on race day will be available at Varsity Sports on Dec 14 & 15.
Registration
Online registration closes at midnight, Wednesday Nov 28. Registrations forms will be available at packet pickup at Varsity Sports on Thursday, Nov 29 from 11am - 6:30pm; and day-of registration will begin at 5:30pm at the race start. Cash/checks ONLY.
